W.W.A. Gun Dog Scurry

 

The Westmorland Wildfowlers Association (W.W.A.) held its annual Gundog event on Sunday 22nd June in idyllic settings at Warth Wood and in glorious Cumbrian weather. The event was well attended with handlers of all ages. Most Gundog breeds were represented including Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers and BASC’s Duncan Thomas entered the scurry with a couple of his HPR’s.  The tests were challenging including woodland and some very difficult cross water, far bank retrieves. There were loads of youngsters competing and the event had a real focus on family and extended members. Most of the dogs excelled in the water and some of the entries to water were breath taking.

 

The event was sponsored by Chudleys and the Senior W.W.A. winner Martin Wilson with his dog ‘Meg’ received the acclaimed Crystal Bowl. First place W.W.A. Junior was Connor Stubbs with ‘Lady’, and 2nd and 3rd prizes went to 2 young ladies Abbie Stubbs with ‘Purdey’ and Hebe Shepherd with her dog ‘Hector’. A superb barbecue and drinks in the setting sun finished off a great days dog work!
